Dr Vesto Slipher was an astronomer was born in Mulberry, Indiana. He became director of the Lowell Observatory at Flagstaff, Arizona in 1916. Dr Slipher was the head of the group who discovered the planet Pluto in March 1930. His discovery was regarded as the greatest in astronomy since the discovery of Neptune in 1846. |
